Linesense Fire Detection Limited, was recently formed to provide ‘continuity of supply’ for the well-known Linear Heat Detection (LHD) Cable from Brand Rex. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Jacob as our new Marketing Manager. Ian was formerly the Regional Sales Manager at Kidde Airsense.
While he was at Kidde, LHD cable manufactured by Brand Rex was amongst the range of products for which Ian was responsible. He has spent his entire working life of 37 years in the fire detection industry, supporting customers and amassing years of experience in the promotion and sales of systems through worldwide distributor networks.
LHD cable production at Brand Rex began in 1978. Unaffected by dirty, dusty or wet conditions, Linesense LHD cable is particularly suited to applications where other forms of fire detection are prone to failure due to extreme environmental conditions - or those where costs are prohibitive.
Ian has a wide-ranging experience of the fire industry and a broad technical capability complemented by several years’ experience of account management working within the technical sales environment for the international arena. Having joined Kidde as a trainee in August 1979, Ian rose through the ranks to become a section leader for the company in May 1993. After seven years with Detector Electronics in Slough, Berkshire, where he became a Sales Support Engineer responsible for promoting the company’s fire and gas detection equipment, he rejoined Kidde in May 2002. As Regional Sales Manager, Ian worked closely with both the company’s marketing and design teams on new product development, providing competitor information, customer feedback and other market-related data. In his first five years after rejoining, he increased the volume of sales significantly - from £1.6millions to £4.3millions. In his last nine years with the company, Ian was responsible for promoting several of the company’s ranges of aspirating smoke detectors - along with the ‘Alarmline’ range of linear heat detection cable and fire alarm panels.
“I am pleased to be joining Linesense at the very beginning of this venture,” says Ian. “I am excited by the challenge and am sure that together, my new colleagues and I will provide a continuity of supply and service in LHD cable manufactured by Brand Rex to those customers who recognise and appreciate the qualities that make it so suitable for those applications where other forms of detection just won’t do.”
“I hope to put my experience of the global fire industry market in general - and the LHD cable now distributed through Linesense, in particular - to good use in protecting difficult or hazardous industrial and commercial applications, ranging from car parks to petro-chemical installations around the world.”
